Musical Notes tell musicians what and when to play.
The Staff
The notes are placed on a staff which consists of 5 parallel horizontal lines and the spaces in between those lines.
In The Space
Notes which are placed between lines in the staff are considered to be in the space.
On The Line
Notes with a line running through them are considered to be on the line
The different lines and spaces represent different pitches.
Notes placed higher on the staff will have higher sounding pitches

The Treble Clef
One set of 5 lines and spaces (staff) cannot possibly represent all the pitches used in music.
That is why at the beginning of the staff a clef sign is used to indicate which set of pitches the staff is representing.
Treble Clef is used by higher pitched instruments such as most band instruments (flutes, clarinets, trumpets, etc.) guitars, the right hand of the piano
If you look closely at the Treble Clef you will notice that it seems to "frame" the 2nd line from the bottom. That line is called G which is why the Treble Clef is also called the G Clef.
Musical notes are named after the first seven letters of the alphabet. (A-G) After G they start again at A.
The first line of the Treble Clef is an E and as you go up the staff from line to space you go up the musical alphabet. (A,B,C,D,E,F,G,A,B,C, etc.)

The Bass Clef is used by lower pitched instruments such as tubas,
drums, bass guitars, the left hand of the piano.

If you look closely at the Bass Clef you will notice that the two dots to the right of the backwards C seem to frame the 4th line from the bottom. That 4th line is an F.
The first line of the Bass Clef is a G and as you go up the staff from line to space you go up the musical alphabet. (A,B,C,D,E,F,G,A,B,etc.)
